Sometimes called "conjuration" and "animation", Summoning is a term used to describe the ability of some characters to call up or create people, creatures or forces in order to assist the summoner. Certain characters can generate these creatures from nothing, others pull them from their home worlds. Sometimes the creatures are not totally under the summoner's control.
